NATIONAL BUSINESS INTRODUCES ECO-FRIENDLY TRANSIT VAN
Crown Records Management (UK & Ireland) Ltd has taken delivery of its first electric vehicle as part of its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment.
Based at Crown’s Bow facility, the Smiths Edison Transit electric van which has a standard Ford transit chassis produces no carbon emissions, exhaust pollution or noise. Its launch complements other environmental measures introduced by the company, which provides records management and consultancy services across the UK. These include using fuel-efficient motorcycles for small-volume deliveries and offering electronic delivery of scanned documents to further reduce transport emissions.
Supplied by leading commercial vehicle supplier Direct Asset Management Ltd, in conjunction with Smiths Edison following their recommendation, presentation and site visits, the van has a standard chassis but has been adapted to run using battery power only. It has a range of 80 to 100 miles between charges and is ideally suited to low mileage inner-city operations, with only four moving parts to make it easy to maintain and highly reliable. |
